Golf tips

People are often looking for golf tips to improve their golf games. Although it often seems that there are a lot of tips for putting and driving, there are less tips for ways to improve a person’s mid-range game.

Following these golf tips to improve a chip shot can help a golfer see a decrease in his score and a rise in his confidence while on the course.

• Big loft – A club with a high loft is usually best. A 9 iron might be a good choice, however usually a pitching wedge works best. Of course, if the ball is in the sand, a sand wedge is always the best bet.

• Ball in the middle – When looking down on the ball, it should be in the middle of the golfer’s stance. By having the ball in the correct position, a golfer increases the likelihood that he will hit the ball correctly.

• Choke up – Choking up is one of the golf tips that can help a person get more lift on the ball. The grip should not be changed, but the placement of the hands should be moved down just slightly.

• Decrease the swing – This is one of the golf tips that some do not realize they should follow when hitting chip shots. By decreasing the backswing, a person is able to get more elevation on the shot. A full backswing will likely make the ball go farther than a chip shot should.

• Follow through – This is one of the golf tips that should always be followed. By following through a person is able to pop the chip shot up at the proper angle.

Getting a feel for how each ball should be struck takes practice, but by following these general golf tips, a person will be able to improve his golf game.
